RIP: Jani Lane, who fronted the glam metal band Warrant during their most successful years, was found dead last night in a Los Angeles motel room. He was 47. Cause of death remains unknown at this time, and an investigation has been launched.
Lane joined Warrant in 1986 and provided vocals for the band’s most memorable hits, including “Heaven,” “Cherry Pie,” and “I Saw Red.” Lane left Warrant in 1993, though he returned a year later. He left again in 2004, returning briefly in 2008 to perform a series a summer shows.
In addition to his solo career, Lane would also write songs for other artists; most recently he toured with Great White, filling in for lead singer Jack Russell.
